HAPPY 4TH TO ALL!!!
Wherever you are and whatever you are doing today I hope
you spend it having a great time!! HAPPY 4th to you all!!
Mom has decided she wants an APPLE Pie so appropriate
for this July holiday. I won't be making it though since she
decided at the last minute. Good Ole SARA L will have to
do. Off to make my red white and blue dessert..
HERE IT IS...
6 boxes (3-ounces each) Jello (or store brand gelatin dessert) in 3 different colors I use BERRY BLUE, STRAWBERRY and the PINA COLADA which comes out sorta WHITE 1. For each flavor, dissolve one box of Jello in 1 cup of boiling water. Pour into a square container that is about 6 to 8″ square and chill at least 3 hours, or overnight. (Try to use the same size for all four so that the blocks will come out the same. In this case the smaller the better – I used 8″ pans and felt my “blocks” were a little too flat.) 2. After chilling the flavors, cut them into small blocks. ( JELLO JIGGLERS come to mind! I place the blocks in glasses mixed up to resemble red white and blue. Can add some cool
whip also if you like!

HAPPY FOURTH WEEKEND!!!Went shopping most of the day on Thursday. Spent more
time in one store than I wanted to. Found some bargains
and looked into a new camera.
 The clerk told me thatCANON's were really rated HIGHER than any other camera
on the market. My camera is okay so far. but I sense that it
is getting tired of me..
 It is beginning to not respond when I want it to. Reminds me of the computer when it wants to
NOT DO what you want it to. It has a "mind of it's own"
NOT GOOD. I gotta say I like to be prepared so I look
around and investigate before I buy. Limited budget
in mind .. I am just "looking" at them and checking
things out. Have you noticed that they are all different
colors now? Where have I been.. under a rock??
 The old silver or grey or black cameras are
gone and now they come in GOLD, GREEN,BLUE, RED, PINK
and PURPLE. QVC has been selling a lot of cameras of color.
Goodness I never even thought of buying one with
a COLOR. My favorite one so far was a Green Canon.
I think now that I will try to buy one with a color so I
will know it is MINE!! I like the idea of personalizing it.
Just think all those cameras we have that use kodak
film in rolls are now obsolete. I never thought I would
see that in my lifetime. We all have antiques!

Anyway.. the day was gray, cold (60 ) and misty.
Wearing a coat felt good! You really could not believe it
was JULY!! Gas prices are hold almost 1$ less than last
year at $2.69 and we have heard they are not going up!
We went to the local discount grocery store and noticed
they had bananas 3 lb for a dollar.
 NOPE they didn't sell them all.. Two carts full will make a lot
of banana bread or some hungry pigs really happy!!
Momwill attempt to make bread tomorrow because I could not
resist getting some of these. Fruit salad too!

THURSDAY NOTESBeen spending a lot of time cleaning up my private MSN spaces that
I have. I learned that photos posted inside your blog entries are
public domain for anyone not even signed into hotmail really
surprised me. The images you place on your blog post go
into a BLOG PHOTOS album and the settings cannot be
changed.
 SO... I had to remove a whole lot of photos.WHEW that was a real job.
 I know that at other blogsites written content and photos CANNOT BE SEEN unless
you have permission or are signed into that blog if it is PRIVATE.
It's just too bad that MSN has it another way entirely.

Sleeeping weather here has been wonderful. Who would have
thought you needed BLANKETS in JULY?
 NOT ME!! This morning it was 55 here! It's not really a shock but we
are enjoying it because we know what is coming soon...
back to 90!!
 Michigan should have a wonderful holidayweekend with little or no really problems weather-wise. It's about
time too. Too many activities have been rained out in the past.
Classic Car shows and flea markets and sidewalk sales, and
Hot Air balloon shows all coincide with JULY 4th. It is a pretty
busy time in other cities nearby. I hope to at least get to
visit some of those soon.

HELL HOUSE got it's lawn scalloped yesterday in the rain!
The city crews came and cleaned that place up!! Oh happy
day!!!
Now I can run weed killer beside my fence and allthat grows up will not invade my yard. Amazes me how they
can get anything done in the pouring rain. They have pretty high
powered equiptment though. It's fast!!

So much for news from here.. nothing much going on. The freeways
are busy the stores are busy and we all know why. Yesterday in the
big city I came across a good buy on a new camera.
I looked it overand was ready to buy UNTIL.. I noticed that it did not take VIDEOS!
I thought all digital cameras did that now but they don't I guess.
The clerk explained to me that this was an "older model" and that
is why it was marked down. RATS!!
I was tempted anyway because ofthe deep price cut 39$ I knew there must be a catch .. nothing is that
cheap anymore..LoL
Keep looking I guess. The camera I have stillworks.. I am "WEARING IT OUT!!" That is what Sis says. Oh well
in time maybe..

When I was editing photos I ran across this one.. KINDA looks like the
head of a pig, or bear or some other animal. Boy that storm was a pretty

I thought that a space I made here at MSN SPACES was private..
well most of it was. EVERY single picture I had there in albums
could be seen by just anyone. I was shocked!!! I thought private
mean just that. NOT SO!!! WATCH IT when placing photos on
or inside your entries if you have a private space. Despite changing your
profiles etc you still will have your pictures there for the public to
view and UN-SIGNED IN TOO!!! I have several notes into MSN will
let you hear if I do!

Ever since the changeover to digital we have had trouble here
with our cable. Stations blacking out, getting all pixelated,
pictures freezing up for long periods of time. It's crazy. We never
had trouble before the switch. Calling the company or whatever does
really no good at all. You never have time to sit on the phone and wait
for them to get to you "next".
One station was out for 3 days!!!
We don't receive many stations, but the ones we have I sure hope they fix!!

I saw on the news where BILLY MAYS died.(OXYCLEAN) He was the best pitchman
I think I ever saw. I am so glad that he was so successful at it. His family
will be taken care of hopefully because of his wonderful work for
all those products.
He died from complications due to heart disease according
to autopsy reports from the coroner. So tragic for one so young.
He was only 50 years old.

Windy day here yesterday and boy it liked to have
beat down my tomato plants. I had to scramble to
find something to prop them up with. When I
came outside at lunch time they were
all OVER the GROUND. Up until this time they
were all standing up or tied up. When to stop
feeding them that M-gro stuff I dont know but
the one is really out growing it's pot extremely!
Sis says I should have just planted it in the
ground but I think if I had it would have not
done half as well. Looks like they are going to
 all ripen at the same time. WOW! This is just ONE tomato plant!!
It has tripled in size with all the hot hot weather we have had.
Keeping it off the ground has sure been a challenge. I was ill-
prepared for the need for the very tall tall stakes. Need to
buy or find some more soon. I have it propped up with
everything I could find.
You can see HELL HOUSE in the background there. NO they haven't
done anything about those weeds at all. I think the house has been
posted though by the city and if nothing is done soon the city will
come and do it and charge "whoever" owns the property now.
I hope it is this week!
Nice today here cooler and I am liking it!! Sunny and nice
we needed a little break. They say it may even be dry for
July 4th. Not holding my breath on that one!

coming and the cooler weather so I had to get the lawn mowed,
the weeds whacked and some of the mess from that nasty QUINCE
bush gathered . I laid them out days ago in the sun to wilt and
that's exactly what they did. The leaves gone almost and they
were much easier to deal with. The pile is bigger than I thought
it was though. The neighbor asked me if I was going to have a
bon fire! I told her if she wanted to burn then she could.. she laughed
and declined. She know about the THORNS!

Went shopping at the Wmrt store and looked for some
of that new product The OFF CLIP ON device. It repels
mosquitos, or so they say. My SIS used it on her belt while
mowing her yard. She said it didn't work all that well.
I guess you have to be sitting still, not moving much.
If you are on a bike or mower or hiking-walking I don't know if
it will do you that much good. . The store was completely
out of refills for the units. The clerk said he didn't know when
he would get more. They had a whole display of at least
50 of them. They come with one refill besides the one that
is inside. Sis said if she went camping she would definitely
use one if she were in a tent.
Got some great cantalope
for 2 $ each.. They marked up my Tea that I buy there
by almost 25 cents. I was shocked.
.. I swear they are trying to mark things up about once a month .. maybe more.
I stocked up on all the older priced ones and they had
to give it to me for the price on the can! They rang up to the
new price. It was very confusing to the clerk..but not to me
Save where you can! When we got home I got to watch the
Nationwide Nascar race. The driver I like was not in the race
but it was nice to see one once again.

Last Sunday I watched an ABC movie called IMPACT..
talk about wild. An asteroid or some such thing collided
with the MOON. It imbedded itself inside the moon which
caused it to change it's rotation around the earth. Since it
did that the magnetism or gravity of earth changed and
people and object began to float in the air. Okaaaayyyyy
In each pass or rotation of the moon it got stronger and
stronger. WE LOST ALL communication and electrical
things were severely compromised. The second part of this
movie is on Sunday night at 9 PM. What happens to EARTH
when the moon adjusted like that is something I never
ever thought of. The reason I mention this is because we are
such a nation that is so dependent now on everything
electrical that if something catastrophic happened we
would be stuck. Back to the olden days of snail mail
and telegrams and ham radio operators I guess.
Scary thought! This nation should speed up it's
technology in the wind turbine arena and make it
part of our everyday lifestyles.

cooler and we actually got below 70 at night. It sure is
welcomed here. I am hoping it sticks around for a few days.
Friday night on 20/20 there was a show about a girl who was
16 now but looked like she was about 2. She could not age!!
She could not walk and I don't think she could talk either.
Her siblings have aged like normal. This is hard to even imagine.
Her parents think that she is here for a higher reason. She is a joy to them,
but maybe science can find out why she is this way and how
maybe she can benefit others. It was a fascinating program.
Maybe it has aired before but I had never seen it. To read

I was in the pharmacy today and the pharmacist was on the phone.
He mentioned, when he hung up, that he had had 3 calls about
the flu. FLU here in JUNE.. yes indeed he looked at me and said
"I guess it is year around now because of the SWINE FLU thing."
In the news I saw where the US had now documented
ONE MILLION CASES of it. That seems like a lot.
I have to say I have gotten lax about being as cautious as I
was this winter. I still use the wipes and watch for people
who are sick, but it just is so unusual to have that to worry about
over the summer months. Just a reminder to be vigilant and cautious.

The pharmacist said " This is the stuff you REALLY DO NOT WANT!"
I walked out of the store wondering what he knows and
how bad it really is for us.
Will they have a vaccine that willactually help or not, and how much will it cost us.?We have to pay
for the regular flu shot, I wish this vaccine will be free, but not counting on it.
The government should care about having all it's citizen beseiged by
this new flu but they don't . It is up to us to keep away from it best we
 can I guess. This sign is on my back door permanently now.
Mom or I cannot afford someone to enter who really knows
they are sick. Knowing how Mom was with the pneumonia
I just want to watch out all I can.

Gas here went dwn to 2.56! Shocking I know
I guess the powers that be are giving us a break before it rises next week. Fruit prices
are some better in some stores. I refuse to buy a melon that is not even
the size of a basketball for $5.00. I will wait thanks for later in the season.
I won't be that lucky again to get a really good one. Two in one year that is
unheard of for me!!

truly changed my life. NO place on earth could I have ever
dreamed of finding so many wonderful people to become
friends with. People come and go in our lives, and we place
some more important than others. I place all my SPACES
FAMILY at a very high spot in my heart.
  I have added two sisters to my family whom I cherish dearly,
and many many others who I would truly miss if I lost them.
Back in December of 2008, I recieved a spaces miracle.
Many special people gathered together and made it possible for
me to go on with my msn spaces blogging when my computer
broke down. Imagine that!! Where else in this world could you
truly find such caring people.
YOU all hold such a dear "SPACE" in my life and I cherish you
all greatly. THANKS FOR MAKING the past 4 years so memorable

FAREWELL FARRAH AND MICHAEL THE news that Farrah Fawcett had lost her battle with
cancer was hard to hear. Somehow I thought maybe just
maybe all the prayers and all the angels watching over her
would help heal her of this horrible disease cancer.
NOT SO.. The news came that she died earlier today in
Los Angeles. Those of us who grew up watching her evolve
into a wonderful powerful actress feel sad at her passing.
The poster that was made world wide famous looks tame
compared to posters from our time now. She will be remembered
fondly by so many and when you mention the name FARRAH
this is the image I think of .
 Only a few hours later the news came that
MICHAEL JACKSON died. WHAT???
NO WAY.. this couldbe just a rumor. It could not be true, he is so young.
He is a pop icon with the popularity similar to ELVIS.
DEAD! NO WAY!! The news broke and the networks
scrambled to see if the reports were true. People and
reporters gathered at UCLA medical center.
SOON it was evident that it was true.. HE was gone.
Regardless of what went on in his personal life..
(and we all know what that was).. he was a force who
promoted trends in music and style. When I personally think
of Michael Jackson the first thing that pops into my head
is this picture. The music and the dancing that made the
world sit up and notice and replicate it over and over again.
 Farrah did the same thing with her smile and her hairdo
and her talent.
I was struck over the fact that we had lost two icons
in the same day. THREE in two days including ED McMahon,
too much to take in.. JUST TOO MUCH..
I pray for their families and their loved ones. They alone will
suffer the most and the rest of the world will send their
prayers to them.
I also pray for WALTER CRONKITE who in the past few days
has reportedly been very ill at the age of 92. The world
is losing all it's truly loved ICONS..
Rest In Peace.... you all wil be sorely missed.

CROCKPOT TO THE RESCUEAdding to the heat is the kitchen and trying to make some
dinner I happen to think of the CROCKPOT today! YES!!
That was a relief. Throw in the chicken and rice and
soup and wahhh lahhh hours later.. dinner is served.
It was a relief as the temps soared here to upper 90's
and the humidity.. well lets just say the birdbath had
non-stop action, including the squirrels.

I decided to go to do my errands early in the day thinking
maybe just maybe it would be cooler. NO such luck. By
9:30 AM it was already near 90!! YIKES!
I made threetrips to the pharmacy and picking up meds took me
1 1/2 hours... to go 1 mile!!! They were not ready and then
they were and I picked them up and brought them home
and THEN I NOTICED that the price was way too high.
My fault I should have checked.. I think the heat got to me!
So back I went again only this time .. I FORGOT the
darn reciept.
Back I went to the house.. it was comicalin nature but didn't seem so at the time. The final time
the young clerk (who must be new!) said.." I don't understand
the problem." I said.. THESE drugs are supposed to be
4$ on the new plan not 12$.. seemed simple enough to
me! GOD BLESS that nation-wide plan of 4$ for some meds.
THE list includes about 300 or so meds that most people buy
and they are all 4$ each. Places like Wmart and KMrT and
some grocery outlets are all going along with the plan.
SAVES big $$$$ I tell you! I signed mom up recently to
save money and we have, but we sure have a hard time
getting things straight. It is worth looking into if you haven't
already done so. YOU DON'T have to sign up or anything
just take in your bottles and they do the rest.

I noted that gas at the time I went to the store the first time
was 2.60 but by the time I got back from the last trip
it had went up to 2.69!! YEP they are getting ready to
raise it next week big-time. Be smart and buy early.

I made a swing by the river to see if it was over the banks
like last year. and happy to report it is high but not over
the banks!
 As I drove by I noted this home that was in pretty bad repair but
it had the most beauiful large rose bush.
  Now if I tried my hardest I could not get one to grow that lovely.
Unattended and left to grow it really thrived there. SAD in a way.. there are so many
homes here that have been left to the elements and time like that one. SO many
homeless and so many homes sitting empty. It is just a real shame.

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY!!! GOOD NEWS... Took mom in for her check up. She had lost 12 lbs!!
 We all were shocked! She complains so much over what
she is eating and how it tastes and etc. Apparently it is doing
what it is supposed to do. She is doing better blood pressure-wise
and breathing wise.
 When we got home she asked meCan I have ice cream and cake now?? LoL
 I think she figures some time or another she can go off this
diet for good and go back to the way it was. NOT going to
happen! She has to keep it up to keep her condition stable.
She is managing fine and can sometimes go off the diet, but then
has to get right back on it. I say.. whatever works do it!! So I am
seeking out new recipes for her to use so that things won't taste
so bland and boring. I am not on her diet. I find that if I make
her food special I can make enough for at least 2 days and I don't usually
eat what she does. I have low blood pressure, iron and sugar. Her diet
would just not work for me. Makes it hard to plan things ahead and
more food, but we are managing.

 TODAY was hot.. with the A/C blasting I decided to make batches of
potato salad, macaroni salad and some meat dishes all at once so
that the stove will not be used for a few days. Helps to keep the heat
down in this big ole house. ANYONE else craving salads and light
dishes in the heat??? I sure am. Sis and I have had Tacos at least
3 times the past 3 weeks. FAst , easy and light.. that is the ticket in
the heat wave we all have been having.
I made watermelon jello today. JELLO company came out with it
and I had to try it to see if it tasted good. It was okay.. kind of a cross
between peach and apricot. Smelled wonderful. NOT sugar free though.
You can find it only in the summer-time. Kind of a change anyway.
I give it only
 though. I think it should taste MORE like watermelonthan it really does. Anyone have a recipe using this jello let me know!!
I tried the PINA COLADA flavor too and WOW! It is good.
Gonna give that
!! It has a sort of coconut flavor to it.THIS IS A RECIPE.. I made up...
PINA COLADA SALAD
1 small package of Pina Colada Jello (DRY)
I small carton cottage cheese
1 med or 8 oz container cool whip
1 small can crushed pineapple (drained.)
1 can mandarin oranges (well drained)
1/2 c. coconut (flaked or shredded)
2 drops yellow food color (optional)
Combine the above ingredients well in a
bowl and chill for at least 2 hours. (I use some food
color because this jello has little or no color to
it. It is entirely up to the person's taste. )
You can add some minature marshmallows or some
banana if you like, but this dessert is pretty sweet.

A lot going on today but I sort of did not pay attention
to the many spacers who told me to take it easy on
the trimming of that humongous quince bush. I started
when the sun was going DOWN thinking it was cooler.
WRONG!! It was still pretty hot out. I got some done,
and it hit me when I went indoors. WOW! Let's not
do that again..
 SO tonight I rest and promise to take the advice of many of you who are definitely smarter than I am. IT WILL
WAIT!! HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A COOL

I AM NOT NEAR THE RIVER THAT IS FLOODING.
The river near me is high though. We are under an
advisory. You might recall that last year I posted
some pictures of the flooding in my area. Tomorrow
I will be looking for signs again of it here in town.

YES My basement had some water but not
as much as I expected. I was glad the downpours
here did not last that long. It was easy to clean up.

YES.. lower Michigan had 3 tornadoes on FRIDAY
night due to that bad system. NONE OF THEM
were deadly and NONE had any warnings put
out on them They were not near me and they were
F-1 and F-2's on the scale. Our first three of the season.
There was major damage though.

MY FIRST HOTDOG of 2009 tasted pretty good recently
and now I am all set to wait until 2010. I would
rather have the burger!!
MY first 2009 taste of watrmelon was delicious. On sale for
3.99 ! Sweet and juicy I got lucky on the first purchase!
 NO that really is a black seed. This melon had one lone
seed..

GAS is still cheap here and people are buying like it was
going on short supply. Don't blame them either.

THE tree limb that fell did quite a bit of damage to the
neighbors property. I suspect they will be cutting it and
 Truck has a broken windshield not sure about the fence damage.
The tree should be cut down it is a real hazard to the community.
One in question is that large one behind the downed limb.

GAS went down to 2.69 here!! Don't know why..weather is great and
I guess there will be lots of room for it to go back up in a week or so.
Biggest news around here is the 1,000's of people who got caught with
the river rising at a local county fairgrounds. Cars under water, people
evacuated. NO place to go without their vehicles. Talk about a nightmare.
People who put on the event had no idea the river would rise that
much after those large storms came in on Thursday and Friday.
Big MESS....Red Cross called as well as many paramedics. People
were still leaving through the waters at 11PM at night on foot
and by boat! Very warm here in the high 80's and again
tomorrow. I managed to get the rest of the lawn mowed but could
not get motivated to trim anymore in the heat. Some other cooler
day I guess.

UPDATE/ COOKIE DOUGH RECALLPUTTING in this update as the weather here in
Michigan is pretty bad tonight. Raining hard, very humid,
very windy. Many roads flooded, trees down and
looks like it will be a long night. Where the
ground has been so saturated large trees
just cannot take this high wind etc. Will know
more when the daylight comes tomorrow.
Getting ready to unplug Miracle for the night.

SATURDAY AM
We made it through the storm with many streets being
flooded but are slowly subsiding. We were lucky..
areas north of us had more damage. I think the storm
we had on Thursday was more severe. I have water in
my basement, but I have seen it worse. The ground right
now is saturated so that's the cause of that. A neighbor
put up a new wooden fence last week. It looked really nice.
Last night a very large tree branch off of an old tree
fell right on top of the fence. It is so covered you cannot
even see the fence. When they remove it, we will see
what's left. My tomato
plants are okay, pretty limp from all that water but still
standing. Next week looks to be very hot and sticky
so they will have a chance to dry out. Hope you all
got through this weather just as well or better.

I think I had more participants the last time around or maybe the sentences were just more easy to work in.
No matter what sentences you get though you can find a way to work them in somehow.

Well as of 11PM they put us here in the moderate category for severe
weather tomorrow. Guess we know what will be going on here on and off.
We got hit by the humidity, but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Sis and I got cracking at that big ole Quince bush in the yard. YES,
 it should have been done by now, but it just was too big a challenge for
me alone. I have never seen it so overgrown. Some branches too big for the
shears I had. It was so thick you could actually get swallowed up in it
and then you had to be careful not to get punctured!
  I measured the thorns at 2 inches now and boy they make you so
sore when you get pricked! So I guess this project will be an
on-going thing this summer. May take quite a while to finish it
up.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, I called the city code violation
officer to report the weeds at HELL HOUSE. The guy who
does the mowing has neglected it so bad they are higher
than my fence in some places.
 I have been patient and waited a whole month and it has not
been take care of. I think that is long enough! When this gets dry it
will be a real hazard to the property for fire! Hope he posts a notice
on the house for them to take care of it! This is the very area where
the SKUNKS find a place to hide out! I sure don't want that again!

west of us and how large the area is for potential trouble.
I sure hope we stay out of it and they are making more
of it than what it is. Seems like many times this spring
they kind of fizzle out or go south of us instead. WE will

wave and when it hits near a100 in St. Louis.. well
that isn't good!!

were losing their sense of SMELL!

The rain and the humidity is back in Michigan
but we did have a nice breeze along with it. All in all we have had
a wonderful SPRING. I still can't believe that JUNE is two weeks away
from being over!! Time is flying by.
 Passed by this quaint little cafe yesterday and was surprised at
the nice flower arrangements there. Makes the outdoor dining
so inviting. Someone did a wonderful job of decorating it up.
I, for one, love the look but my allergies would NOT permit me
to sit among those planters and eat a meal. DARN!
