    LAZY DAY

    SO much to do today and don't care to do it. It really is
    a lazy day around here. The weather has changed and it
    is warm and nice and I think I will just get out and
    enjoy the air and not worry about what chores have to be done.
    OH I know I will regret it later.. but these days are the kind
    to just soak in.
    The first frost has come and gone and this is called our
    indian summer. I might take a ride out in the country to see
    how the trees are turning. It has been a while since I checked
    out the scenery.  Who knows..

    Things could be worse.. you
    could be thousands of miles above the earth and not have
    a toilet.. Surprised   READ HERE

    WHATEVER YOU DO TODAY.......

    IT'S FRIDAY..

    glitter-graphics.com
    ATTENTION SHOPPERS..
    Have you heard the news???
    Wally World will begin selling toys for Christmas already.
    The kicker is they will sell some of them cheap.
    They will sell the top ten toys for christmas for 10$ each.
    They believe that the sales will be way down because of the
    economy. The kicker is .. WallyWorld is
    hoping it will catch on. IT JUST MAY......
    That little stunt caught the attention
    of all the other stores. SO in the next ten days
    you will be seeing some brand
    name items for low low prices, probably in many
    top retail stores.  Whether this trend will keep
    up .. who knows..  I bet some folks will be real happy if
    they do keep it up. We could all use the break.

    GAS HERE has hit BELOW $3.00 for the first time in ages
    2.98 in some places. People believe that if the prices go lower
    people will get out more and spend their money...thus helping
    the bad economy. I don't know about that.. all I know is the
    GAS stations are loaded.. Reporters on TV tell buyers to HOLD
    OFF if they don't need it right away because it is still on the DECLINE!
    AMAZING isn't it!!

    This friday finds us with nice weather for the whole weekend.
    I have had a little physical  setback of sorts,  so I will not be doing as
    much as I thought I would. It will be my weekend to just enjoy
    the warm breeze of the indian summer. It will be good-- because
    we make it good.  70 degrees and nearly 80 on Sunday forecast
    I am loving that!!!

    I heard the saying yesterday.. "campaignitis". YEP that is a correct
    word for it. It has been going on for so long now people are just worn
    out... HOW about we all take a weekend off and DONT listen to the
    stuff!?  I intend to!!

    HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

    THURSDAY NOTES

    HELL HOUSE SAGA CONTINUES..

    A woman came from the realty company and
    took pictures of the one apartment next door, that
    had some flooding during the winter. You can just
    guess how it looks in there. I ask her (slyly) if they
    were going to rent it out." NO", was her answer "It is
    unfit at this time." The ceiling has fallen into the
    kitchen from upstairs, leaving a big mess downstairs.
    The walls are full of black MOLD! YIKES!! Most people
    know that black mold is terribly hard to get rid of and takes
    a lot of money. She did not say if the building will be demolished
    or not. That leaves two out of three apartments damaged.
    No wonder no one has even been shown the place in months.

    Standing at the fence.. I could see up close, that the porch
    has much damage also where all those violent fights took place.
    Several  wooden panels are missing on the inside of the porch.
    I am not surprised at all.  I am just grateful that the lawn has had
    some upkeep and the weeds are not high and out of control this
    year. There are so many abandoned buildings in this city. So many
    houses empty since the decline of our city some years ago.
    This building though, is the one really bad one within blocks
    of us, and I have a feeling the city will not let it go for long.
    Time will tell what they do.. just another saga of HELL HOUSE.

    I mentioned yesterday that I was going to a sale on canned
    vegetables this week and stock up. The way things are going
    right now, all over the globe practically, better to be prepared than
    not. I am not yelling the sky is falling, but I like to stock up
    when the price is right. I recently visited a space which had
    a link to a place called LEHMAN"S that really has some
    helpful things that are really interesting. Talk about going back
    in the past and using some tried and true things that work.
    They sell everything there from A to Z in helping you to survive in
    hard times. I saw some items that were actually made by
    amish folks. I was interested in SOLAR powered things and
    they sure had them. A SOLAR OVEN so you can use it with sunlight
    or with electricity. How important that would have been to those in
    the hurricane zones. Well I thought it was worth mentioning here..
    just in case it might interest some of you.

    RED, YELLOW, GREEN

    signal

    Apparently both candidates are so anxious to get
    their views across to the pubic,( in the debates)
    that they don't pay
    attention at all to those lights that are there to help
    keep things going . I just could see the
    frustration in the moderator trying to keep them on
    point and moving along. At one time, McCain told
    Brokaw to just wave his arm. Long answers that sometimes
    were not on the subject.. I cannot see a whole lot
    of difference between this debate and the other one.
    When ask a question, you really should answer it so
    the people understand what it is your are saying.
    I guess I just remember debates of the past that
    were the back and forth kind that really made the
    public sit back and take notice. When they were over
    you really got a clear grasp of the candidate, and what
    he stood for. You knew right away who won and who was
    the best person for the job. My own opinion is that I am
    just not "getting" that yet. Mark me as still confused.
    ########################################################
    Rainy here today.. but the weekend looks wonderful with high
    70's. I really need some of that to finish up my yard work.
    The signal light on our car went out and the first place I thought
    of was the same place I went before A Zone and the helpful
    people who work there. He not only helped me in the store, but
    outside showing me how to change the bulb. NOW it only took
    5 minutes tops.. a garage anywhere would have charged me
    labor for it. So I tried to pay him something and he wouldn't take it.
    I offered him cookies instead.. He perked up saying "chocolate chip
    Please!" so guess I will be making cookies soon.  Service like that
    gets me as a return customer for sure.

    GAS is way down to 3.13 here and milk is still 3.49 -3.79..
    I noticed that shelves are stocked for a canned good sale
    and I will be getting my supplies for the winter months ahead.
    You cannot beat 4/1.00 canned foods anywhere.

    DEBATE TONIGHT

    Girl_sleepsUNGODLY HOUR but...

    YES I am still awake.. sleep comes hard the past few days..
    seems the weekend caught up with me and those cold
    winds that blew, and I kind of had a little set back with my
    head etc. I am trying to let it run it's course and the
    meds to kick in so I will just say..

    DID you know there is another debate tonight?? I hadn't heard
    when it was until I heard a short announcement
    during the news last night. This debate will be a town hall
    sort of debate. Tom Brokaw the moderator. Now I hope the
    way this country and whole world is in such a mess that
    those people can ask the kind of questions that each candidate
    can answer and give us a better idea of what the heck
    is going on.... AND what the heck they intend to do about it.
    I do hope the questions are random and not pre-planned.
    I hate it when they do that. McCain is very good at this sort
    of venue.. it is what he has been doing for months now.
    I am hoping that they both can do something that doesn't bore us
    to pieces and not bash each other in the process.  We will see..
    HOPE YOU ALL

    CORN HARVEST O8

    Saturday was a nippy day weather-wise, you would never
    know it by the excitment in the air. Whiffs of roasted corn and
    deep pit BBQ and hot fresh Carmel corn filled the air. Spirits were
    high and from my view point every one was having a pretty darn
    good time.  I posted some of the 180 pictures I took. There were
    so many it was hard to choose.

    The city provided the rides on golf carts and horse and wagon.
    101_0108101_0111
    I took both rides and both were very enjoyable. Having a whole wagon full
    of people to talk to and enjoy the trip was an added bonus. The wagons would
    stop in the park and let people off and others get on so that the horses could rest.
    Me being right next to the driver . I got this view that was well... pretty memorable!
    101_0107 Kids aboard squealed when the
    horse raised his tail ...and well, the air was filled with another aroma
    I really wasn't ready for. Following that..the horse let out a large TOOT
    and we all just howled. I was reminded of the Seinfeld show and that
    stinky horse that Kramer had fed beanie weenies to.  Even the driver was
    laughing. A very memorable wagon ride.
    Shocking sounds came from the park. Large gun shots.... our attention
    was on the men in the area doing a civil war re-inactment.
    101_0066  I don't think the horses
    liked it much. I was glad they didn't use any canons!
    This years celebration was smaller than last year. Many vendor spots
    were empty, perhaps it was the colder temps.. it didn't stop these
    101_0070
    kids from testing the river waters. Brrrrrrr!
    They were all being watched closely by authorities
    though.
    All these kids were signing up for a HOG CALLING
     101_0047
    I didn't stick around to see who won, but I am sure
    they had fun calling as loud as they could.
    101_0102101_0103
    This was a demonstration of a old time wood cutting machine .
    They trimmed the big log and then planed it into wide pieces of lumber.
    Fascinating work to watch.
    101_0120 The island on the right
    was the one covered in water before. Now it is just green
    and was beautiful to see.

    Well that was my day on Saturday.. Glad you could come along
    and see the sights.

    HOPE YOUR MONDAY IS GREAT!!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUE...

    glitter-graphics.com

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUE!!
    Yes today is my best friend SUE's
    birthday and even though she is
    not going to tell you how old she
    really is...I .... Will.....
    (bet you thought I would tell you huh!)
    Nah.. would I do a thing like that to
    a friend??? Wink
    Hope you have a great one SUE!!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Pretty cold here overnight. in the 30's again. Covered up
    the plants I wanted to save. The weather reports that
    warmer weather is coming next week so maybe I will
    save the tomatoes after all. Saturday we went to the Corn
    Festival. I say we, because Sis was off work for the day and
    she and my friend also went too. It was a brisk cold day
    to start out and the turn- out was not as large as when
    the weather was warm last year. Not nearly as many
    vendors showed up where they had a space reserved
    for them.  The ones that did show though, braved a windy
    cold day and did very well. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
    I took so many pictures and I am still going over them.
    I will post some later today when I get time.
    An incident occurred Saturday.. and well it was very very memorable.
    More on that later...Wink
    I will be making a pot of chili and a batch of cornbread
    and watching the Nascar race today.
    HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY YOUR SUNDAY!!
    FRIDAY VIEWS
    These are a few of the pics I took today. I picked up
    my camera only to find that the flap that covers the
    area where the chip goes in is BROKEN. I guess a
    piece of plastic broke off it and now the thing just lays
    there. I have to put a piece of tape over it to keep it
    shut! DRAT!!! I knew it was too good to be true...when
    I dropped it last week. So.. I went out today and shot
    some random pics to make sure it still works. SO far
    so good .. but darn it I will be looking for one on sale
    at the first sign that this one is giving up on me.
    It will be in the 30's tonight and I still cannot believe
    we have the heat on so early in OCT! Frost warnings
    and Freeze warnings are posted for the whole state!
    Enjoy your warm weather if you have any.. I wish our
    autumn had been longer lasting.
    100_9970100_9985
    Lots of geese are gathering at the river on their journey south. WInter comes soon.
    100_9988   100_9978
    These look better enlarged.  The cloud photos are for Carole.. they do look like
    fall or winter clouds to me. Glad they are not bringing snow though, my lawn still
    needs mowing.Surprised In the background is the steeple of the largest church in town.
    That can be seen from just about everywhere in town. Here is a closer
    picture of it.
    101_0019  HOPE your weekend
    is warm and full of lots of great fall memories.
    FRIDAY NEWS
    glitter-graphics.com
    Hope you all have a great Friday and a good weekend planned.I know it will be
    a cold one here. I plan to go to the harvest festival here Saturday, if the weather warms up some.
    With my head problems this week I am not prepared to dally very long though.
    There are errands to run and some monthly bill paying to do too in the big city,'
    so I will venture out and hopefully it won't rain on us as we go.
    Gas here is sticking pretty low right now at 3.53 and milk is either 3.49 or 3.79
    depending on where you get it.  We turned our furnace on at 5 PM last night
    and it will run on and off until this cold snap stops. YES it is very early for us
    here to have it on. 60 -62 here in the house was just unacceptable with a senior
    living here.
    ##########################################################################
    I watched the whole debate last night.. I thought they both did well, Palin acted
    sort of rehearsed though in her answers, where Biden seemed to just answer
    the questions. He did his practice sesson with Michigan's governor Granholm
    over the past day or so. I had to remember that when he ran for President
    he did do debating, so he is an old hand at it. Why  he needed more
    practice I'll never know.  There was no reason for anyone to
    say that Palin was not prepared or uneducated in her answers. I think the press
    made more out of her lack of experience than was necessary. She held her own.
    ... NOW WHAT???
    dollar
    GOt this in my e-mail today... It sums things
    up pretty good. I heard on the news that the senate signed
    or passed the bail out bill.. and out loud I said
    "NOW WHAT??"
    Well on to the HOUSE of Representatives and they
    have to okay it too. OKAY.. so will they or won't they?
    It is a big lesson for all people to watch how they
    work on things and what things work and don't work.
    Kids should be following this whole thing in the schools
    closely. I doubt they would understand any better than
    I do though. Confused
    Makes you wonder just what the heck is next,  what it will
    mean for JOE PUBLIC. and his family and the small business
    people in this country who are in so much trouble right now.
    We wait and see I guess.. Looks like the winter will be a long one!
    ###########################################################
    THE HORNETS ARE GONE!!
    Checked the nest and since Monday there is no activity there,
    they must have left because of the cold. 40 last night here.
    I noticed the hole in the end of the nest was larger
    and today it was huge.
    nest
    I guess if you have over 800 per nest you need a
    larger way for them all to exit. I was sure glad I
    was not outside when they left. GOOD RIDDANCE!
    I will make some calls and see if anyone is interested
    in retrieving the nest for study.
    Saw the end of the AMERICA'S GOT TALENT show..
    so the opera singer salesman,Neal Boyd, won the whole show,
    but the results were so close it wasn't funny. I really
    liked ELI who played piano and sang similar to ELTON
    JOHN.. I am sure they both will make a lot of money  the
    rest of their lives.
    ##############################################################
    Cleaned and cleaned today all the heat registers and pipes, closed
    some storm windows and replaced our glass front door. Getting
    ready for the colder temps....BUT.... waiting to see if by doing all this
    IT  WILL GET  WARMER  !!  SOMETIMES IT DOES!  Wink
    It will be a long winter starting the furnace so soon in the fall.
    NOT good $$$$$$$$$$!!
    Not much going on here it was rainy yesterday and pretty cold.. definitetly
    sweatshirt weather. Thanks to the benedryl my nose was better but it
    made my head stop up some so I am still battling the headache. Sick
    The temps in the 40's at night make this ole house pretty cold and drafty.
    Had the oven on for awhile making biscuits for dinner last night sure felt good.
    Picked my tomatoes regardless that they were not ripe. Hope they will
    get ripe indoors. I can hope! We could get frost tomorrow night.. OH I hate
    to hear that news.. Sad
    ###################################################################
    Watched some of the DWTS tonight and BOY I still cannot believe they
    did not vote off that Cloris woman. OH she just makes such a fool of herself
    each week. Better people than her are getting the boot. It is just SAD!
    If a stranger came up to you on the street and asked you to give them money and
    told you that if you did give it.. they would pay you back would you believe them?
    Kinda like that in Washington these days... we are EXPECTED to believe that we
    will benefit and we will get the money back but WILL WE REALLY??? hmmThinking
    They have found the chemical MELAMINE now in other countries where
    CHINA shipped contaminated milk products. The latest was in the Netherlands in cookies
    inside chocolates made there too. WHO IS TO SAY THAT THIS MELAMINE PRODUCT
    HAS NOT PASSED OVER INTO THE USA NOW???Thinking Children have died from this
    this scary thing.
    LOUSY..
    sickwoman
    I feel pretty lousy today.. I was all day long yesterday.
    It might be the weather changing or the pollen or
    something in the air. I have had trouble sleeping due to
    my allergies and asthma.. I sure hope it leaves soon.
    It's the kind of weather that makes your bones ache.. oh yeah
    I am that old!! Wink
    I have to be well to get my FLU SHOT.. They are already
    advertising for them in the stores here. $24.99!! Goodness..
    the price goes up every year. I can remember getting one
    for $5 one year. They raise the price so that if you do not
    have insurance and have to pay-- it comes at a bad time.
    Winter time, the bills are more than summer. This year they
    say will be bad. Higher oil rates and more sickness.
    They want more children this year than ever, to get the
    shots. They figure if they get some resistance to the bug
    then they won't pass it along. Makes sense..Schools
    are where they are passing it to each other.  I think the GOVT.
    should pay for them. Children are our future. They should
    be protecting the whole nation from a potential virus outbreak.
    Oh well I am just rambling here.. something else the poor people
    can't afford. At least the seniors get a shot free.. ( if they can take it)
    ###########################################################
    RELAX
    With all the bad news on tv lately I prefer to not watch it.
    I see it-- but I tune most of  it out.. I guess that is what you call it.
    Oh sometimes you can't help but know what's going on
    and you do listen. Mom doesn't get all of the news of
    congress doing this or that.
    She prefers to watch her daytime shows
    and live in her mind where no one goes to the bathroom
    (almost never see a person on a soap go in one.) and
    no one smokes anymore, or goes to a grocery store.
    They never sit down for a whole meal or have trouble getting
    a babysitter for their kids.
    People there just happen to give you
    a job and or you have someone in your family owning a
    business where you can get work. Just like that-- there is no
    stress over paying the bills or anything. What a life that would
    be.
     When they broke into her program yesterday with an update
    over the bill not being signed, she just looked at me with
    disgust.. for a split second her world was brought back to reality.
    I had to think, if we lost tv for good tomorrow, if all those characters
    would still be playing their parts in her mind.
    NEWS AND VIEWS
    glitter-graphics.com
     The news was grim and tragic over the weekend. A person we
    knew is gone and we are all asking why? Lost a job, could not
    get another, could not provide for his family. Bad times for
    everyone these days. Who knows what thoughts lie inside
    someone's mind.. private thoughts that get overwhelming,
    and then something snaps. A family now tries to move through
    the loss and shock and grief. The community needs to gather
    itself and try to make sense of the whole thing and help
    all they can. The past few days have been hard on us all.
    We shake our heads and think--what could we have done, or
    what didn't we see? Sometimes these things just happen. now we
    have to deal with it and try to move on into the days ahead
    and help all we can. He will be missed.
     Here are some pictures I took over the weekend.
    SLOW SUNDAY
    glitter-graphics.com
    I saw this graphic and just was taken away to a peaceful place
    this morning. It is very cool here today and this computer is
    pretty slow too. I am running a scan so maybe that will help.
    Nothing much going on here in our neck of the woods. Gas did come
    down drastically to 3.56 is the last day or so. That was a big shock!
    Milk was up to 3.79!! NOT buying it!  Will look for the sales.
    People here are in a rush to start their yard cleanups even though
    the leaves have not even started to turn yet. Gads... if it goes like
    last year, we will be shoveling leaves along with the snow. Confused
    The roadside market is out of tomatoes. the season was terrible.
    They are only selling squash now and some peppers and cabbages.
    Don't remember a summer where we got  so few tomatoes here.
    My vine is full and still blooming.. now if only the frost will hold
    off for a few.
    I am so cold this morning I think I will go get myself a cup of
    hot chocolate to help me warm up.
    There were 73 in all.. Chances are just most everyone on
    the planet has seen one. Here is the whole list!
    How can you say that one was my most favorite portrayal?
    How can you not remember him with Robert Redford
    in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? OH.. Cool
    Hand Luke..The Hustler, I loved him in the movie..
    Message in a Bottle with Kevin Costner back in 1998.
    I have to smile thinking of him as playing the role of
    Kevin's dad.  That smile..
    those crystal blue eyes.. this world has lost a legend
    that is for sure. His whole life is laid before us in his
    charitable actions as well as his faith and love of his
    family and his profession. My sympathies to his family
    especially to Joanne, his wife of 50 years.
    THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES PAUL!!!
    SATURDAY NOTES
    Boy is it foggy out! I can hardly see across the street. In the 40's and
    so damp and cold. It is the kind of weather that makes one know
    that fall is really coming faster and faster. In just one week
    the golden locust trees are losing all their leaves. Yesterday afternoon
    it looked like it was snowing they were coming down so rapidly.
    Other trees are mostly green here, but there are hints of color here
    and there. I have a feeling that things will really happen this next week
    quickly. Sis reports that she saw her first wooly worm and it had
    black, brown and then black again on it. I am hoping that will
    mean some breaks in the winter snows for us here. They have been
    pretty accurate in the past.
    As for the debates last night. I don't feel there was a clear winner.
    I prefer to hear the rest of the debates before I decide. I do like to listen
    to those experts in "body language" as they know the subtle differences
    that are hidden in each candidate. I am sure glad I don't have to decide
    with just this meeting. I think maybe the vice-presidential debate will
    help decide more. we will see.
    As for today I will be getting off to a slow start because of the fog.
    I can't mow the yard until it gets drier so I guess the laundry will
    take it's place on the schedule. Yesterday I took some pictures out
    in the country-side so as I go through them I will post a few later. I
    did notice that the fields are so golden now. Harvest time is truly
    here.  Hope you all have a great day....
    TROUBLE. & FRIDAY UPDATE...
    After three days I have finally been able to really
    access this space properly.Eye-rolling I decided to try
    resetting it with another background to see if that would
    help. Well something has, so far and I can access it. I
    got the e-mail from hotmail saying that they were going to
    speed up our e mail service.. wonder if that means that everything
    else will be messed up? Anyway.. For as long as I can I will
    stay here. I miss my spaces home and like it better. IF I cannot
    access it you can always
    FIND ME  HERE. There is no need for a certain e-mail there
    to make a comment and I like that very much.
    Friday is here already. This week went super fast and was probably one of the nicest weeks of fall type weather we have seen in a long time. Many people are out mowing lawns and tending to their ga
