CATCHING UP AGAIN

glitter-graphics.com
My the whole weekend just flew by.. I can hardly believe that
tomorrow is Monday! Saturday was not a good day for mom.
She had trouble from the very start. Why the therapy people
decided to give her a session before her other treatment is
a mystery to me but WILL NEVER HAPPEN again if we have
any say so at all. Sis and I both had to show up at the center
where mom was because she had some kind of a "anxiety
attack." Now what exactly happened we don't know for sure,
but we do know her blood pressure was extreme and her
state of mind was very confused. Scared us all pretty good.
By the time she got back to her "house"(what she calls
her room) she was doing wonderful. Sure is wierd. She
went without anything to eat from 9 AM til nearly 4:30..
they sent a snack or sandwich for her lunch but she
couldn't eat it..EGG salad and potato chips.. ahhhh
NO WAY!! We rebelled loudly about that you better
believe it. IT WON'T happen again either.. They sure
need to get their act together Pronto!! Mom has been
exploring the place herself. Today she told us
that she was up early and rolled herself up and down
the hallway looking into the different rooms and places.
She said everyone else was asleep!! I guess she was
up pretty early!!

It's been cold and rainy here and glad it isn't snow.
The deer have been on the move. We counted 13
on Saturday and two bucks among the small bunch.
Glad to see they have survived the hunting season around
here. The young ones are sure fun to watch!
Homes in the area have sprung to life with all kinds
of decorations. People are glad I guess to put them
up before it gets any colder. I got rid of most of ours
this past summer so will just use what I have left I
guess.
Tomorrow, baring some other emergency, Sis and I
will be paying bills, calling the doctors and making
appointments for mom and running errands. It will be
a busy day.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

TO SUE AND HER HUBBY

MANY MORE HAPPY YEARS TOGETHER!!

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY!

FIRST SNOW!!

We got our first snow last night.. it covers the ground and makes it
beautiful..but doesn't stay long or make the roads bad.
If only it could do that all winter long!
Mom had a good day yesterday. Was able to visit with her sister on
the phone and eat a "REAL MEAL" for a change. It was a holiday treat..
she doesn't get another one until Christmas the dietician said. She
enjoyed every bite!!
As we sat there talking with her the deer began moving about
the property and it seemed to be a whole family. The buck looked
to be about a 6 pointer and there were three little ones.
Mom sure enjoyed the show because they came while it was light
enough to really see them. We turned off the lights in the room
so they would stay around a little longer. It raised quite a commotion
in the other rooms too.

No flash on the camera didn't help as much as
I thought it would.. soo the images are blurry..
better luck next time .. I hope I get the buck!!

Well not much more from here. Spending my days
running back and forth to visit mom and praying for good
weather when she is on the roads at 5 AM in the morning.
Hoping that schedule gets cancelled and she gets a
later in the day timeslot for her treatment soon!

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Gas prices are lower here than we thought they would be.. 2.55 some places
2.49! Traffic is heavy on our freeway as in many places today. I took our back
road out of town which was congested with truckers taking their corn to the
ethanol plant. Farmer's life never takes a holiday until it is all harvested I guess.
Spent my first day at home in three weeks yesterday. I made pies
and prepared some food ahead of time.
It's rainy and cold here, better than the flakes I say. I am still not
ready for that yet. The town has put up all it's Christmas decorations
already and it is quite festive looking. When I arrived at the center
to visit mom while she had her treatment, they told me she had been
up since 4 AM.  The transportation left at 5:15 or so and her treatment
started after 6. She will have a long morning before she goes home
and can rest. She had an excellent day yesterday including some therapy
and says she hopes more days can be like that one. As she gets stronger
we all hope she will keep her attitude up and improve a lot.

COMMUNICATION NIGHTMARE...

You bet.. there are so many communication problems here. So
many doctors she had and so many people trying to move and
make appointments and such that it is a real nightmare. I spent
time with Rn's and social workers and staff today trying to get
things organized.. and what things they were doing we HAD
NO idea of. Sheesh it never ends..every day it is something else.
Good thing mom doesn't have to deal with it because she couldn't
even begin to. I feel so sorry for those who have no help or no
family and they get lost in that mess. Sad  It is truly sad!

Meanwhile life goes on.. I know Thanksgiving is at hand.
We have been invited to eat at the Rehab with mom. Sis
may have to work so I will probably be there with her.
I still will make some pie because I just can't help myself!
Everyone will get PIE!! Wink What's the holiday without
pumpkin pie? Wink

 Time moves on..
I am going to school..Smile
the booklets and paperwork I am being handed almost daily will keep me
busy for some time trying to learn what is going on with mom's
condition. Good thing she doesn't have to read it because it
is something else! I guess I will be an expert when I get done!

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

SETTLING IN

RANDOM THOUGHTS HERE.. BEAR WITH ME...
Life here is very hectic.. more than I thought it would be
once mom was settled here in town. Life in the "rehab"
facility is not the best we can get but what we have to deal
with. Mom has been struggling with things and her life away
from the excellent care she was getting at the hospital. Anybody
knows that settling into a new place takes time. New routines
and new people and they take time to learn. Fear takes a big
toll on mom there too. The bed is smaller and there is no rail
on the sides to make sure she won't fall out.(they are working
to help that situation)or at least there is a promise to help it.
Sis and I have decided that if she does fall we will arrange
for help at home and keep her there the best we can. I have
done this kind of work for over 20 years so I do know what it
takes and will take whatever help I can get to keep her safe.
Many of you have had similar situations I am sure and know
what I mean.

In the past two days I have seen mom in PAIN and
no one co-operating to help relieve it any .. except for a tylenol.
Having taken pain pills over the past 10 years for degenerative
arthritis.. a tylenol doesn't help her the least little bit. I took charge
and told the LPN on duty that something should be done immediately!
They used extra blankets for warmth and not much else. Being the weekend
they had to try to get ahold of a Dr. in charge so I told them to
DO IT.. in the meantime I used some warming creams that helped
a lot. Well there is more to the story but I hate to rant too much here.

Her treatments
take a long time and a lot out of her too. If you had ask her
two months ago if she wanted the treatments she would
have told you NO over and over again. When the urgency of
the situation came up she agreed. YES she can say NO she
doesn't want any more and face the inevitable conclusion,
but she is not ready yet to make that decision. So the days
roll on and many things have to be settled. I am thankful the
nights are long so that the dark comes early and I can go to
bed and sleep if I can when my mind isn't thinking too much.
It's been a long time since
visiting many of you and I hope to catch up with extra time
waiting while mom has her treatments. The library there is
close by. The weather here is getting colder and at least
we haven't had any flakes yet. The walks in the cold will
do me good to clear my head some.

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT WEEK AHEAD!!
