AND SO IT GOES ON ©est. June 2005 |
FRIDAY UPDATE![]() glitter-graphics.com I've been trying to get back to this blog for days. Every time I get
about half way through it freezes up on me and won't PUBLISH..
This is my third attempt... so we will see...
Been busy making plates of goodies to take to the doctors and nurses
who have helped mom out over the last month. Sis and I found
some cute jingle bells that look like NURSES at the TRGT store
and so we will be giving them out too. I know mom can be a handful
at times so I really do appreciate all they do for her. ![]() glitter-graphics.com We sat in her room last night, with the lights off, looking at the
optic tree, Four deer walked through the large yard area
near the building. It was almost dark, cold and lightly snowing. Talk about
a moment. Now I wished I had video taped it all. When the lights
are on in the rooms, the deer will not come too close because they
obviously can see you in the room. Ours being off.. they came closer.
It was a picture postcard moment for sure. I was glad they all got across the
road safely. The deer crossing is so close to town, many do not make it.
There seems to be a family of deer, but we have seen at
least a dozen at one time come across this area.
Mom and I love watching for them
in the early evening. ![]() glitter-graphics.com Last weekend to get the last minute shopping done. I will be far away
from the crowds. I planned to get all my errands done early. Am planning
on cooking some for Christmas dinner too. We will see how far I get on
that though. Will be spending most all day with Mom away from home.
Glad we have a crockpot.. they sure have come in handy the past weeks.
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY WEEKEND!!!
![]() glitter-graphics.com A DAY OFF!![]() glitter-graphics.com I had whole day off yesterday.. Oh I did work here at home sort
of. but I never left my house! I realized about noon time that
it was my first one since November. Wow, could that be right??
Yep. Sis visited mom after she came back from a treatment. She
had had a particularly hard day there. Was pretty confused and
gave the workers a hard time. Being tired and have a treatment
is pretty stressful on her. She never did calm down most all day
long. The RN told us to just leave her be and maybe she would
eventually. Works for me. I called later she was fine. Maybe
we are over-doing it with the visits but when we don't go we hear
from her about it too. You just can't win. ![]() glitter-graphics.com H1N1 Here I come!!
I called the local health department yesterday too. They told me that
ALL H1N1 SHOTS are FREE! Wow , I had no idea that was true. I heard
a rumor about it.. but don't trust everything I hear. They have opened it to
all people now regardless of age etc. ONE hangup.. only ONE day a week
so far. Naturally.. the place was packed. I decided to try again next week
maybe go earlier and see if I could get one. Wish me luck!!
Today another trip out of town with mom in the wheelchair van. She thinks of
those fellas as her personal chaffeuers now. I told her not to get too used to
it because eventually she will need to be able to ride in the car again. We have had
many drivers lately and every one of them very good with her. Sis and I have had
certificates made for them so they will know how appreciative we are .
WELL Off to the day now.. HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!! YEP.. IT'S AN ANGEL!!I did a search on the internet for an optic angel and boy
was I shocked. SO MANY!! Narrowed it down to T**GT
and called them. They promptly told me they had only
ONE left that they could not hold for me because
it was on sale. Sis and I took off for the store 20 min
away. I saw the picture on the internet and it looked
really nice.. 15 inches tall..but getting to the store and plugging it in
it exceeded my expectations. This is it lit up.

The optics make it just glow. Mom will really
enjoy this. I also bought myself a Christmas tree! It's
tiny but cute with it's optic display also. So this old
house WILL have a tree allbeit pretty small! I really
like how optics work. They remain cool to the touch and
just look so amazing. I found the stores not too crowded on
Monday and shopping was easy. Gas went to 2.55 a gallon
from 2.49 a few days ago. I found milk on sale for 1.75 a gallon
and the stores are loaded with fruit and some of it is pretty
high priced. Grapes were 2.49 a LB!!
Pineapples looked good.. it must be the season in Hawaii right
now. YUM! Bought some Ham on sale for the holidays so
Sis and I will have some for New year's.
It was a pretty good day for shopping here. Foggy in
the morning and misty in the afternoon. It wasn't too
cold but that is coming ..time to get ready for the
winter again now that almost all the snow is almost
melted.
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY TODAY!! HOLIDAY TRADITIONS...glitter-graphics.com Our family doesn't have a whole lot of traditions at
this holiday time. We had stockings made by a neighbor
for each us kids. Those are gone now each child
got theirs when they grew up and left home.
This year though, it will be the first
time in 58 years there is no Christmas tree sitting in
the living room. Now, I am sad over that statement.
In one way I want to set it up and make the house all
cheery etc,in another, I just don't want all the work.
The tree is not the problem really, it is a newer two piece
one that is simple to set up. The main problem is just
no incentive here with just me and mom being in another place.
Sis and I decided that we would get one for mom's room
and that would be it. Mom got a sad look on her face when I told
her that there would be no tree in our house this year.I guess I should
have kept mum about it.
really enjoyed looking at it. I knew then it might be the last
tree we would have here. The 2 foot optic tree Sis bought is a big
hit with the people there and mom loves sitting in a dark room
and looking at it. "It sparkles" she told me today. "People here
really like it!!" I was sure glad she enjoys it. When I saw the Optic
angels that Beth Marie has collected it gave me the idea to get one
for mom who loves anything angels. Sis and I will be looking for one
on Monday when we are out shopping. When the tree comes down
hopefully the angel will be there to replace it in the room.
Monday will be the first time in awhile I have been able to go out
and shop a little. I sure hope the weather co-operates with us.
It has rained here and there are slushy streets and it is slippery
in spots. I guess we will just wait and see what happens.
Whatever your holiday plans are....
I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY !! PREPARING FOR THE HOLIDAY..Somehow we got rid of almost ALL our Christmas stuff
this summer when we donated them to charity. I could
use some of it now to decorate mom's room up as it
is pretty dull in there. She wanted to come home by Christmas
but I think she knows that won't happen now. She has a lot
of rehab therapy to go yet to help her.She insisted we NOT
bring anything to her there, but we snuck things in little by little.
Sis searched for a small fiber optic tree here in town.
There was only one left. Now it's
my turn to try and find tiny ornaments that will actually fit on it.
![]() ![]() I haven't felt much like baking a lot this year..no time really. If it is fast and easy I will think about it.
I made fudge, but haven't decorated the house much at all.
Sis and I decided mom's room will
be our decorated place this year...whether she likes it or not.
It really will be a strange kind of holiday this year, but I am thinking it
will be a white one for us here.
In the news here in town, the school board has closed one of our
beloved middle schools. It was built back in the 20's for 800
children, but when it got down to 200 there, they just could not keep
it open financially any more. Now the 6th graders will be put back in with the grade
school kids and the 7th thru 9th will be included in the High School
I spent 3 memorable years in that building before going to the new
high school when they opened it. Coming from grade school to that
HUGE building, I got lost more times that I can count. Three floors
and so many rooms it was hard for a newbie to get used to. I sure hope
they can figure something out to use it for something else. It would be
a real shame to let it sit and deteriorate like so many other schools
here in town. Our town has gotten so small that we will only have
2 schools left. It is a sad thing.
WELL HOPE YOU ALL WILL HAVE A GREAT SATURDAY PLANNED..
